Wildlife sightings before I left my hammock. Around 5 o’clock I woke up to some footsteps in the distance brush. It was a bull moose! The first one that i have seen while hiking a long trail. He was about 75 yards away. I think that he saw me as he looked in my direction for a short bit and then turned and walked away.

Some steep climbs and descents for much of the day. The miles don’t come terribly easy on this trail. Had some nice lookouts and Phenix and I took a couple extended breakfast breaks and a long lunch break at Mtn peaks where we could be in the sun and have some views.

Made good time the last hour and a half to make it to a shelter where there were a couple guys who are NOBO hiking. Enjoyed hanging out with them while we ate.
